Bridal and Prom Show 2011

We were so nervous setting up our first bridal show booth.  What to bring...what to wear...what flowers to order...it was like we were planning our very own weddings again!

Everything turned out just perfect though, and we were so glad to meet so many of you.  Thank you for stopping by, and we look forward to planning your perfect event!

My favorite quote of the day..."I've never seen anything like it, it's so beautiful!"

Pickaway County Wedding and Prom Show 2011

We are busily planning and preparing our booth for the upcoming Pickaway County Wedding and Prom Show to be held at Teays Valley High School, on Sunday, February 27 from 12-4pm.

In addition to wedding flowers…and new this year, Blooming Flowers will be creating beautiful, artistic, one of a kind prom flowers for you.  We have pre-ordered the newest keepsake bracelets for wristlets and we will be displaying them at the show.  For men, we will display a new boutonniere fastener that makes it easy to pin on a boutonniere, keep it on and straight…yay.  We are very excited to be offering wedding and prom services to our central Ohio customers.

Stop by and see us at the show, we would love to discuss your wedding or prom flowers.

Wedding Party Flower Planner, Who Gets What?

Flowers and bouquets have been used since ancient times to celebrate weddings. Today, traditional American weddings use flowers to complement the Bride’s dress, the wedding party’s attire, and for decoration.

Here is a brief description, list and planner of the wedding party and their flowers.  Use this list and free planner as a guideline, but remember, you can choose to honor whomever you like with a gift of wedding flowers:

The Bride, Bridesmaids and Junior Bridesmaids normally carry a bouquet of flowers.  The flowers are arranged in basic shapes such as a cascade, hand held, crescent, arm or sheaf bouquet, duchess rose or composite, colonial, nose gay, or fan.  These are typical arrangements, but there are also other less common forms.  Some Brides and Bridesmaids wear hair flowers, shoe or body flowers.

Flower girls typically drop rose petals, leaves or snowflakes. Other options include a basket of flowers, posy, pomander, wristlet, halo or garland.

The men are easy; they usually all wear a boutonniere or pocket square of a flower that coordinates with the Bride’s bouquet.  A common boutonniere flower is a rose, because it is hardy and does not crush as easily as a lily bloom.  The men that wear boutonnieres are the Groom, Best Man, Groomsmen, and Ring Bearer.

Other participants of the ceremony can be honored if you choose.  Examples include The Pastor, Ushers, Fathers, Grandfathers, Mothers, Grandmothers, singers, musicians and readers.  You may also to choose to honor guest book attendants, Aunts, Uncles and/or close family members or friends.  Traditionally, men wear boutonnieres and women wear corsages or wristlets.  A small nosegay or single flower can also be used to honor a woman.

If you are planning a wedding, here is a free, wedding party flower planner for you to use.  I hope it makes your wedding flower planning just a little bit easier.  Enjoy, and best wedding wishes to you!
